Is Your Blog Linked to Your Username?

jeff-sheldon-271730

I visit a number of blogs each week, many of whom like or comment on my posts. One thing I notice is the number of bloggers whose blogs aren’t linked to their username! If you’re on the WordPress platform, this is important because by simply clicking on your username, people can be redirected to your blog! If it’s not linked, you’re missing out on a visitor who could become a follower! Continue reading “Is Your Blog Linked to Your Username?”

stil-326684.jpg

To link or not to link? That is the blogging question! You come across a great blog post and decide to leave a comment. Networking is a great way to engage with other bloggers, connect, and increase the traffic to your blog. The question is, do you leave a link back to your blog or not? That depends… For the sake of this post, I’ll be referencing WordPress bloggers as that’s the platform I’m on.  Continue reading “Why You Might Want to Stop Linking Your Posts…”

Why You Should Write that Post, Even if You’re Not Ready to Publish it Yet!

social-curator-08-2017-27

Here’s a quick blogging tip you may not know about or might be overlooking- schedule your posts! Scheduling a post is the perfect way to create content while you’re inspired and have the time to work on it! I personally like to have posts scheduled out at least a week in advance. I currently post five days a week so that makes it easier for me to manage. It’s a lot easier for me to get my posts together in stages:

  • make a note of my post idea
  • start my draft when I have time to write
  • look for curated photos or take them myself
  • polish the post
  • schedule it to publish

Once you have the idea and a moment to write, it’s the best time to seize the opportunity! Don’t let the fact that you don’t have an hour (or two) to get your post ready to publish stop you from doing the legwork. At this point, you’ve got two options:  Continue reading “Why You Should Write that Post, Even if You’re Not Ready to Publish it Yet!”

How Social Media Impacts Your Blog

I’ll be the first to admit that social media wasn’t properly named, but there’s no denying the power of social media despite that! As a blogger, I’d be inclined to say the most social of the online platforms is blogging hands down. I’ll let my personal opinion and bias take a seat and share a couple of things I’ve noticed when I visit other blogs-

  • Not everyone has a social media account for their blog
  • Not everyone who has a social media for their blog has it connected

If you’re in the first group you might wonder, why would I want a social media account for my blog? I get it, besides my blog I had a personal Facebook page and a Pinterest account and that was enough for me. There are a few reasons why you should consider creating other social media accounts for your blog-

Do you ever visit blogs and see that just the first few sentences or paragraph is visible and wonder how they do it? Well, I’m here to show you how you can get that polished look on your blog! As a blogger, I love how clean my blog looks with each post consisting of a header image, optional body image, and the first paragraph of the content. If my visitors like what they see, they can easily click the “more” or “Continue reading” to see that post or they can continue scrolling to preview recent posts that might interest them more.
