How Do You Deal With Overwhelm?

I thought I would do something a little different today. I’m always sharing my experience with you but today I’d like to ask you to share yours with me. If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that it’s no secret that I struggled with depression for a good portion of my life. One of the things I found myself feeling often is overwhelmed. I’ve shared ways to deal with this in the past, but today I’d like for you to share the things you to deal with it. It might give someone an idea of something they can try and incorporate into their life.

So in the comments feel free to share-

  • What you feel when you start to feel overwhelmed

  • What makes you feel better when you’re deep in overwhelm

You don’t have to have all of the “right” answers. This is just an open forum for you to share because at the end of the day we’re all just doing the best we can. It might make you feel better to talk about it. It might feel someone else feel better to read about it. So feel free to share what’s on your heart or mind when it comes to dealing with being overwhelmed. I’ll come back and share in the comments later.     1. Ohhh that’s a great way to express yourself! Probably a good idea for people who don’t enjoy writing. I know several who don’t like to write but other forms of creative expression work well. Thanks for sharing, Dani ❤

I have suffered greatly with depression my whole life and have run the gamut of all the medical remedies so which have been successful for short periods of time and others that have been a complete flop. I no longer depend on the medical field nor pharmaceuticals to relieve me of my pain but I am still learning each and everyday that a remedy that worked yesterday may not work today so I continue to recycle things that have worked in the past such as, writing about the issues that are running through my head, listening to music or I have even gone as far as trying to learn an instrument when I am locked within my house or brain. I am learning new languages at the same time trying to learn Russian, sign language. Currently I am in a depression funk I have moved to Belarus and the sun never seems to shine, what I would reluctantly call dy light lasts only for about 5 hours and the weather is heading into winter so right now I am pulling all my skills together to get through each day. Thank you for asking for our participation and than everyone who has shared an idea…..good luck with your battles if we all stick together we can make it through another season.

    1. Hi Tom, it’s so nice to meet you! Thank you so much for sharing! That’s such a great point. I also learned that about myself that sometimes I have to cycle through my tools. I implemented 10 practices into my life over a 2-year period that helped me to finally climb out of rock bottom and while some things I did in long stretches, others I did periodically over the 2-year stretch. I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through one of those rough times. I know how it is. Living in a place where the sun literally doesn’t shine probably doesn’t make it any easier.   2. I am new to blogging … I am not good with expressing my feelings at all. It’s hard to talk to anyone. I have been battling depression since I was about 16. Sometimes it isn’t as bad but other times I feel like I am drowning. I am hoping starting to write it out and going to the gym consistently will help.
