As the weather changes many people find themselves feeling aches, pains, and sensations in response. Yet our body is always communicating with us even if we don’t always notice what it’s saying. Today I wanted to invite you to pay attention to the signals your body gives you. You just might be surprised by what you learn by taking a few moments each day to tune into your body. You might find that you have a response to foods you hadn’t noticed or that you aren’t getting enough rest.
A great way to tune into your body is to get up a couple of minutes early and just do some gentle stretches. The key is to focus on your stretching and your breath. Don’t reach for the phone, turn anything on, or listen to music. Instead, pay attention to what you feel in each area of your body as you stretch it. Just by taking that time to focus on what you’re doing as you stretch in silence, you’re allowing your body’s messages to register in your awareness. It’s easy to receive a message your body gives you only to turn around and dismiss it due to your busy day and not remember to process it. By making the time first thing in the morning, you’re making your physical well-being a priority.
