I have to admit there was a vast portion of my life where I tried to avoid challenge. I was a perfectionist and wanted to be good at everything I did. I saw weakness when I was challenged and would try to avoid it at all costs. The thing is, challenges are what help you grow. If you avoid challenges, you stunt your growth in life. I had to change the perspective I had and realize that challenge is the exercise of life that allowed me to grow as a person. I had to stop looking at challenges as if they were a test that you passed or failed and see them for the exercises they were. Each challenge provided me with endurance, resistance, and persistence if I was up to doing the exercise.
Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limits.
With this perspective, I welcomed challenges and began to see the benefits and results of them. I was able to use them to make me better and help me grow into the person I want to be. My attitude when facing them was different and I no longer avoided them at all costs. Now I strap on my gear of experience and put on my helmet for safety because I can’t anticipate every challenge or know how to navigate it going in. I’ll probably get some bumps and bruises but it will teach me how to approach it better next time. I’ll find my footing and learn as I go because the only option I have is moving forward.
