If Only you’d Known…

Community question of the week!

Soulful Sunday (4)

What did you wish you knew when you first started blogging? Maybe you’ve been blogging for a while and it’s something that would have saved you time in the beginning. Maybe you’re just starting on your journey and it’s something you’re stuck on. Feel free to share in the comments what you wish you would’ve known along with how long you’ve been blogging. I’d love to hear your experience and see if we can help the newbies as a community.

I have a few posts of blogging tips I’ve created looking back on when I first started aimed at helping newbies especially but that can help anyone. My posts are written with WordPress bloggers in mind since that’s the platform I blog on but most can be applied to any platform. I hope you find them useful!

    1. Ahh yes, the things we learn fumbling around in the blogging world. I have those covered in my blogging tips so hopefully it will help newbies. I didn’t even know there were challenges or awards when I first started, never mind finding them! πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing!

  1. When I started blogging four years ago, I posted from my website. Since it’s not interactive, I developed a second blog on Blogger. I hosted many guest authors the first few years, but neither blog took off. Eventually, I went from one post a week, to one post every other week, and now, maybe one post a month.

To be truthful, I don’t have a lot of time to blog. Moreover, I’m not a “popular author,” which doesn’t motivate people–especially busy people!–to read my blog. I post when the spirit moves me. Sometimes, I pick up new followers on Goodreads, and that’s okay with me. πŸ™‚

  2. I’ve been blogging for about a year and a half and I must say that I still feel like I’m new to it. Right now I wish I can connect more and often read other people’s stuff but I can’t just be on my computer all the time πŸ˜…

    1. We’ve bee blogging about the same amount of time! It can be incredibly time consuming! I do my fair share of networking and engaging and there could always be more but we all have other areas of our life that need to be tended to as well. Personally, I in the beginning, I searched the tags based on what I was in the mood to read. I’d pop over to a handful of blogs and like their post or leave a comment. That way I met new bloggers was exposed to different content. It made for effective use of my time to mingle and get exposure. Now I visit the blogs of those who stop by because I have so many visitors I want to make sure they feel welcomed to this community. If you’re looking for exposure, feel free to check out my promos that I do once a week. Info is in the side bar or up in the main menu.

      1. It is indeed very time consuming that I can’t keep up sometimes. I try my best to read all the latest posts from all the blogs that I follow. And I found meet and greets to be quite helpful to find new blogs and meet new bloggers 😊. I’ll check it out, thanks.
