Every time I hear a story of sex trafficking, I’m shocked to my core. I can’t believe the rates at which this occurs. It’s terrifying and heart-wrenching. Thought-provoking Thursday posts are to bring awareness to issues but also to open a platform to engage in conversation that encourages solutions. The reason I’m writing about this topic today is because a story popped up on my Facebook newsfeed. My heart broke for the teenaged girl that told her story. As a mom of two girls, I can’t even begin to imagine what she or her family went through.
The survivor was rescued thanks to a trucker that notified authorities of underage girls soliciting at a truck stop. Thank goodness that he did the right thing and spoke up for girls that were being forced solicit themselves against their will. The trucker is part of an organization called Truckers Against Trafficking that is on a mission to cripple the sex trafficking industry. They partner with local law enforcement to provide them with expertise truckers are privy to given the amount of time they spend on the road. I encourage you to visit Truckers Against Trafficking to watch their training video, save the hotline number in your phone, and even take a moment to make a donation. Thank you so much to the founders and members of this organization for coming together to do your part to put an end to this dehumanizing crime.
Nancy, a very brave member of this community, is a sex trafficking survivor and activist. If you haven’t met her, I encourage you to stop by and show her some love! ❤
Do you know of other organizations contributing to fight sex trafficking? Please share in the comments!
It sickens me to think that these folks get girls so young. Good to see you’re spreading the word on people/organizations who are making a difference.

Not just girls. These predators take girls and boys of all ages. They take advantage of runaways and drug them and take them to different states or sell them to other countries. They take people from poor villages in other countries. They lure people tricking them into thinking there’s a job opportunity in another country and take even grown men. I’ve even heard of kids being forced to lure other kids, this is the story that changed the way I talked to my daughter about “stranger danger”. We use the term but she knows the meaning we give it.

I think too few people are aware of the global issue this is. I know I didn’t realize this happened at all, much less on this scale, or in the way it was happening. Now that I do know, I can do my small part to raise awareness so that others can be aware and do their part.

There is no way to truly express my disgust for trafficking. How anyone can take people from their homes and families and force them into trafficking is horrific. Truly horrific!

It really is. I just can’t believe how many people it happens to, I read it was over a million a year. My mind just can’t comprehend that. It’s an international problem but I don’t really hear much about it…

On my last mission trip to Belize I worked with a missionary who is connected with a group building a shelter for those rescued from this awful experience.

There are so many young women out there that fall into this “trap”. It’s sad, but the people that are running the operation of sex trafficking need to punished and sent away for a long time.

Yeah, I think punishment for sex related crimes aren’t punishment enough and catching people in the sex trade ring is difficult. There are some truly horrendous things that happen, I wish I could protect and care for all of those that are preyed upon. 🙏

I won’t say sad but sickness in the mind of people who do such things. A women who gives birth to men/child . She beholds her dignity and lives for others. And for men she is only a need for sex and for such disgusting work. Pity on their thoughts.
