As a parent I find myself wanting to incorporate things about the way I was raised into my own children’s lives. Today I’d like to hear from you about the aspects of your childhood that inspire you to be the parent you want to be. For me, one of the things I loved the most is the amount of time my mom spent with us as kids. She always had a craft, project, or recipe that I could help her with. I loved how much we bonded and as an adult I appreciate the amount of time she sowed into me. I know you’re going to read this Mom, so thank you for being such a wonderful example of the kind of parent I want to be.
Feel free to share memories or family dynamics from your childhood that inspire you as a parent! Happy Monday!
My mum spent quality time with myself and my three sisters. She taught us all to bake. We spent time in the garden and in lovely picnics in the park and in local beauty spots. She made a lot of our clothes on her sewing machine and was a fabulous knitter. She had a fabulous sense of humour and I will always remember her laughing eyes. She died when I was 14 so these years were incredibly precious. 😇

I’m so sorry that you lost her at such a young age. It sounds like she did an amazing job creating beautiful memories for you to cherish a lifetime. Thank you so much for sharing, it just goes to show how important those “little things” are. ❤

I loved how my mom would always come back with little goodies for my and my brother whenever she went out shopping. I’d love to do the same for my daughter to ensure she knows that i think about her whenever im out shopping!

That’s so sweet! Reminds me of grocery shopping as a kid, incredibly boring but a necessary evil. If we behaved my mom always got us a little treat at the end. We’d get Kinder Eggs, I’d give my brother the toy to assemble and play with and he’d give me the chocolate 🙂 I found myself doing the same thing as we went shopping for the week last night. Even though I try to be organized with my list and get in and out, the kids don’t enjoy it so they got a little treat for being so patient and well behaved. Thanks for sharing!

My mom was incredibly unstable, and I sometimes wish I could have a tiny peek hole into the past of the mother daughter relationships I see now that remained strong into adulthood. This was just that glance I needed. Thank you. 🙂

I’m sorry to hear that. I know that sometimes we can have those experiences that teach us who we don’t want to become. I know that aspect of it as well but I’ve found that by focusing on what I do want, who I do want to be, and the positive lesson I’ve learned I can incorporate that into my life in a way that helps me grow into the person I want to be. I’m glad you were able to take something good away from this ❤

Ohhh you are going to make me cry. I am so happy you have such fond memories… I tried my best to be a good mom and nurture our relationship and have fun while we were at it. I am so proud of the woman you have become and the mother you are to my two precious little (and not so little) grand babies. I love you.
