Grateful Sunday|Gratitude Dividends

I don’t know if you’re in the habit of being grateful but it’s a great one to pick up! Every day I say a prayer of thanks for all of the wonderful things in my life. Every Sunday I like to highlight something I’m grateful for. I find that it’s very hard to be depressed, sad, anxious, unhappy, or down while being grateful at the same time.

Practicing gratefulness regularly helped me change my negative pessimistic thoughts to uplifting optimistic ones. That’s not to say that I never have a bad day, bad things don’t happen or that I’m happy all of the time but I do choose to see the good instead of focusing on the bad.

This week I’m thankful for my family. In all honesty, I’m always thankful for them but I’m feeling especially grateful for them today. I’m grateful for the love and support they show me and the way they believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself as strongly. I love my husband’s sense of humor, his carefreeness, his ability to see on the bright side, what a loving dad he is and how he’s always there for me. I love that my daughters teach me how to enjoy life, live in the moment, have more fun and always be kind. My mom is such a great role model, she’s a wonderful person, dedicated to her family, loving, and  the best grandma my girls could wish for.

What did you think of the video? Do you have a gratitude journal? What method do you use- a list or one topic? Do you think you’ll try it the way the video mentions? What are you grateful for today? If you don’t already practice gratitude daily, give it a try! You just might surprise yourself!

  1. If only more of us focused on the good rather than the bad, life would be so much happier. As well as focusing on things to be grateful for I also try and look for the “positive intent” in people’s words and actions, no matter how negative they may seem. That’s a subject for a whole different post through 🙂

    1. That sounds a lot like a few different posts 😉 Perspective, perception, each of us taking responsibility for our actions and doing things from a positive place… 🙂 Thanks for reading 🙂

  2. Thank you for this post! Loved it! I’ve been very good about writing in my journal this year…haven’t missed a day! BUT..I’m pretty sure I fall into Group A. I’m excited to try Marie’s suggestion and write about one thing and back it up with details. I can hardly wait to get started! 😊. (Sure wouldn’t mind if “Joshy” brought me some blueberry pancakes! 😉)

    1. Yeah, I do A and B but B made a lot of sense when she explained it so I’m going to try that approach and have my 8 year old try it as well 🙂

hahaha especially on a Sunday morning! 😉

  3. That’s so funny. About a year ago, I started a Microsoft Word document to keep track of the things I’m grateful for each day, and I titled it “Grateful.” You’re so right, it’s really hard to be grateful and depressed, sad, or unhappy at the same time. Great post! (Or should I say “grate”(ful) post? 😉)
