Fit Friday- Fitness Bucket List

Let’s face it, not everyone has this burning desire to exercise. Personally I don’t enjoy working out in a gym. I’ve recently started doing yoga which I absolutely love! I want to be consistent with my workouts but I like to have a bit of diversity as well.

I came across this Livestrong article that I really enjoyed and inspired this post. I like the idea of picking something to focus on and master. I’ve never considered a fitness bucket list but now that I’ve seen it, I want to make one of my own!

My Fitness Bucket List-

  1. Master Downward Facing Tree (handstand)
  2. 30 day plank challenge
  3. 30 day squat challenge
  4. Master perfect pushups (you know, using my arms and not the momentum of my core to work my way up…). Why not? 30 day pushup challenge (what am I getting myself into?!)
  5. Incorporate fitness as a priority in my lifestyle (get active at least 1 hour a day and make healthy food choices)

I actually feel pretty good about these now that I’ve put some thought into this list. I’ve already got a good foundation headstand, so by perfecting that I should be able to start transitioning into working on the handstand and that will be very satisfying! I figure the 30 day challenges will encourage consistency, add towards my daily 60 minute minimum and help build and strengthen my core and endurance (plus that should help tighten and tone my tummy, arms, legs, and tush!). I want to change my thoughts about exercise and fitness because as athletic as I was growing up, mustering up the motivation to workout when you’re out of shape isn’t as appealing (even though I know it will get me back in shape!) and if I go into it with a positive versus defeated mindset I know I’ll be able to reach my fitness goals! I know how my brain works and by committing to doing several small things that add up to my 60 minute goal, it’s more likely that I’ll reach it than telling myself to walk, run or get active for an hour a day…

How’s your fitness journey going? Did you do better this week than last? What are your fitness goals? Do you have them written down? Do you have them narrowed down to something specific? Have you started crossing things off your list?! I’d love to hear about your journey! For all of those that have commented in the past month, I’d love to hear from you as we start a new month and see how things have been in this department. Happy Friday!

  1. Hi Niki, nice to read you again :-). I have managed to go for a 30 walk 5 days a week and my next goal is to do something to strengthen my core but I haven’t planned anything yet. Maybe I should have a look into those 30-day challenges too :-). Thanks for sharing your journey 🙂

    1. So nice to hear from you Bee! I hope things have settled, the last time we talked you were in the middle of a move! 😮 That’s awesome! Good for you for being so dedicated! Yeah there’s several challenges out there, I’m sure you’ll find one that fits what you’re looking for 🙂

      1. Nothing new on the move. Our solicitors can’t get the house sale sorted so now I am bothering them every day with an email. It was supposed to be sorted by April but it looks now that we won’t move before July. it is so frustrating!

      2. Oh my gosh! That’s madness! I thought you’d be all settled in by now. I’m sorry to hear that. I guess all you can do is enjoy this last month before you go into full fledged moving mode again.

      3. Well, we’ll see when it happens. Both of us are quite annoyed by now and I am determined to harass our solicitors until they are willing to move their behind 🙂 Does that count as exercise??????? 😉

    1. Oh my gosh, that’s amazing! You’ve put so much work into it I can’t imagine you just dropping it. Taking up something like yoga sounds like a great idea! I loooove yoga. Congratulations, your wedding is just around the corner! ❤

      1. Oh gotcha, I thought you were intentionally losing it. Yes, healthy and fit is the goal. It sounds like you are mindful of yourself and what you want.

  2. Still doing Crossfit 6 days a week. Have to pick up yoga again since I am off for the summer. I am also running 2-3 times a week and running races about every 2-3 weeks. Plan on doing a triathlon the end of this summer (haven’t done one in a couple of years). For me it’s about being the best me possible, physically and mentally

  3. I actually don’t mind getting up and going to the gym. However, I just haven’t wanted to for about a month now. I am thinking of canceling my membership to shake it up!! Maybe take up doing some zumba on youtube or something like that. I have done quite a few of the 30 day challenges and they have been amazing. I have done Arms, Squats, Planks and a Leg one. I do have goals, they are to not gain any way. Which, I have been successful in. I gained a few pounds when I started my new job 2 years ago, but haven’t gained any since then. Time to figure something different out, the same old, same old isn’t cutting it anymore. Good Luck to you on your bucket list!

  4. Hi Niki, I have a set routine I do static bike 45mins everyday and weights to keep the arms in good shape, I slowly worked that up from 20 to 50 lifts per arm each day. I Work in my garden as much as possible, so I’m trying to keep fit !! It does help to keep my mind clear and helps my concentration, have a good weekend

  5. I do not enjoy working out in a gym, but I try to do some stretching, yoga, or Pilates most days of the week. Still haven’t mastered a handstand yet, but hopefully I’ll get there one day! My favorite form of exercise is simply walking. 😉

    1. I’m with you, gyms are not my type of exercise. I haven’t attempted the handstand but I’m pretty impressed with myself with my headstand. I have a feeling the handstand will be easier but I have to work my way up…I haven’t done one since i was probably 12… 🙂

    1. Yeah, I actually did a couple of posts on that. I started the 30 day challenge (I haven’t fit it into my vacation as much as I hoped over the summer). I do yoga with my 19 month old at home 🙂

Don't be shy, I'll reply ;)
