Grateful Sunday- Great company

Today is my day of reflection, I look back at the week and take a moment to highlight something I’m grateful for. This week I’m grateful for great company! We recently met a couple that is new to the island and clicked with them right away. They invited us over for dinner and I have to admit, I’m pretty picky when it comes to eating.

I will eat anything but I really enjoy good food. I don’t play around at meal time. I was pleasantly surprised by their culinary skills and their love for food. They didn’t haveย me rushing to leave to get home and whip up something edible. There was chicken, fish, shrimp, dumplings, salad and drinks. It was a feast! We talked, laughed, played dominoes, and laughed some more! We had a great time and can’t wait until next week when we host the get together!

Just in case one picture wasn’t enough…
Absolutely delicious! The sauce- dangerous! You can eat loaf after loaf of bread just dipping it in the sauce. I probably gained 5 pounds just in that meal…
We did have a salad for the sake of showing the kids what a balanced meal should look like…
My first attempt at a Caipirinha and I must say it was pretty tasty! If you haven’t had one- think rustic Brazilian version of a daiquiri.

In hindsight I probably should have taken pictures during the evening but the food was the star of the night. If you could smell the delicious aroma in the house, you would understand why! Thanks again for having us over, we had such a great time!

What are you grateful for today? As you look back on this week, and all that’s gone on, what are you thankful for? Is it a moment, a place, a person? Feel free to share! Happy Sunday and wishing you all of the best as we start a new week!

  1. Always so great to make new friends and enjoy good company. This week, I’m grateful for some “me” time. I really value having some free time to unwind, read & write. It’s been a busy few weeks and I needed a day like today to do some things for myself ๐Ÿ™‚
And by the way, what’s in the Caipirinha?

    1. It is nice! I can relate with your grateful reflection of the week! I too value my “me” time! It must have been wonderful to disconnect and do whatever you wanted.

I put sugar, lime juice, strawberries some ice and rum you can also add sprite or a similar soda to it but I figured why ruin a great drink ๐Ÿ˜‰ It’s similar to a daiquiri but a true Caipirinha is made with a Brazilian liquor similar to rum.

      1. It was great not to have any pressure today. I just took my time & remembered to relax ๐Ÿ™‚
If I were out for drinks somewhere – there’s really only three things I’d have: Bacardi Rum, Amarula or a nice red wine. So the Caipirinha sounds like it could be worth trying. I’d never heard of it before ๐Ÿ™‚

      2. Hopefully you can make time to do that more often ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m a rum drinker myself so I’m good to go with pretty much any mixer ๐Ÿ™‚ I think you’d like it. You can make it sweet or tangy playing with the sugar and lime juice depending on your preference ๐Ÿ™‚ If you have it let me know. There’s some great recipes online if you want to try it out at home one day ๐Ÿ™‚

      3. Me too! That’s true finding rum lovers isn’t as common anymore. It’s hard for me to drink anything else, not a fan of tequila and I used to like Vodka until I tried rum. I don’t drink often but when I do that’s my drink of choice ๐Ÿ™‚
