A-Z Challege… Freak Out Mode!

So here I was, all signed up for a challenge thinking I had ample time to prepare. April seemed like a time far,far away. I came up with a theme, thought of topics, started rough drafting. Then in the blink of an eye, February turned into March and April is days away. I do have a few letters scheduled out (A-C) and rough drafts going…for the end of the alphabet! It could be worse though, I could have waited until the last minute to start drafting or sign up… I could have written my drafts only for a crazy technological glitch to wipeย them fromย the Google cloud.

I’m so excited for this challenge but I’m starting to feel overwhelmed. How am I going to keep up the pace with my daily posting schedule and write good quality, deep, thought provoking pieces like I intend? Well I’ve decided that I’ll do what I can. I’m going to make my A-Z posts my priority. When I can’t write two posts in one day, I’ll recycle an old post because that way older posts will get the virtual dust wiped off of them and I won’t put so much pressure on myself… and I won’t get in trouble for blogging even more than I already do ๐Ÿ˜‰

For all of you participating in the challenge, how’s it going in the days leading up to it? Do you have all of your posts ready to go? Do you have a good portion ready and working on the rest? Are you writing on the fly? I know I’m not the only one, because I’ve had conversations with a couple fellow bloggers feeling like me. Do you have any tips? Have you participated before? What was your experience?

How I feel right now! haha

    1. hahaha. Oh my gosh! When I signed up I thought, oh I’ve got this! That’s ages away! I was on it! The closer the time has come, the less I’ve done! I saw the date today and thought what?? April is FRIDAY???!

      2. Thankfully I do have a theme so that narrows things down a bit… I’m hosting a meet and greet this weekend also…I think Saturday is going to be a me day and I’ll see if the Mr. will take the girls for a good 4-5 hours so I can get some bare bones going for a few letters… Thank goodness I have 2 days covered for next week. If I can get the other 4 days of next week done that will be great! Are you doing a theme for either blog? Signing up for two blogs… hats off to you! ๐Ÿ™‚

      3. I think i am just nuts to be honest! This blog will focus on all things emetophobia related (vomit phobia) and the other blog is making food fun for kids. So a for example will be apple pie – but raw, with crunchy maple syrup granola topping. B banana boats…that kinda thing. That one def requires more effort. This one is more from my heart and what i know best really!Fingers crossed you get a “me” day at the weekend to get a head start!

  1. I never write out posts early. If I have thoughts, I jot them in my book or text myself. But I’ve never been big on rough drafts. Not even in college. I might edit as I go, read through change a few words, but that’s it. I know the word I’ll use for the letters. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! I wish I could write like that but I have to start with ideas, then I write, then I go through and arrange my random thoughts so other people can understand where I’m going with them and finally have the published version I edit behind the scenes ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. A wanna be English major… That was one of the classes I always excelled in naturally and have been writing that way for years…whether it’s good or not is another matter… I do like participating in the stream of consciousness because I break all of my self-imposed writing rules and sometimes it feels good to break the rules ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Good for you! This is a theraputic project for me. I want to dig really deep and go places my blog hasn’t yet so I wanted to give myself time to really get into the posts. I have all weekend so I should be ok. I just had a moment of panic when I realized it will be April 1st on Friday… ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  2. Brand new to this, and entered rather late! Have most of the alphabet with a few gaping holes and so far only A & B are rough drafts! So it looks like it will mostly be on the fly for me, which is making me nervous as like most people I work during the day! So it’s gonna be a real challenge finding what little time I have during the day to write a story and post it.
It sounds like you’re at least mostly organised, which is great ๐Ÿ˜„ I think it’s a good decision to focus mostly on the A-Z, and dusting off some older posts can never be a bad thing!

    1. I thought of you when I mentioned last minute sign ups ๐Ÿ˜‰ I knew you had things under control though. You’ll do great! Yeah, I’m feeling better about that decision. Plus most of my old posts will be new to many because only 50 people were following me when they were posted! hahaha

      1. Well then I’m flattered haha ๐Ÿ˜Š I think it will go well, a little bit of pressure tends to help me produce good work!
Ah ok then haha! I’ll look forward to reading the “new stuff” then! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      2. In that case, I think you’ll do excellent! If you did great with the story that I read, I’m sure with the bit of pressure that’s on this month’s work will be nothing short of amazing!
        Haha ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I’ve just changed all my posts from A to Z, but I’m more comfortable now. Just need to get my books out so that I can focus on the challenge a bit more. I’m also looking forward to participating in your challenge. Good luck!

    1. Oh my gosh! I’m glad you have made a decision though, that’s a step in the right direction. If you are feeling comfortable, surely the words will flow more freely ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m so excited! I’ll ping back to you on the details and sign up since I created the page after I published the post. It’s my first challenge I’m hosting so I wasn’t sure what to do, but I’ll ping back to all of those that said yes prior to the sign up page as soon as I get a chance ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck to you too! See you at the start line ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. I am writing a post a day and publishing a scheduled post in the evening. I am big on drafting. This is a real push for me because I normally post three times a week if it is a good week. My blog’s focus is completely different for the challenge. It may stay that way. I don’t know. Hopefully, my readers’ responses will lead me in the right direction. I am so grateful to do this with my bloggy buddies. Good luck to everyone!

  6. First year – no planning whatever. Just looked for something that began with the letter and wrote about it. Second year – theme of family stories. Had ideas, wrote a few ahead of time, but got through it all. This year – unlikely theme for me so I’ve picked out my topics and am going week by week. Have the first five ready to go and scheduled. It just proves you can do this thing any way you want to – and no one expects each post to be a work of art (do they?) You are a funny (in a good way) writer and I’ll probably like all your posts.
