This is the first time I’ve written a post that isn’t scheduled ahead in a while! I’m off today and still woke up at 5:45 am. I decided to write my post but got distracted and now it’s 7:40 and I’m just getting to this. May I be quick so I can have this written by the time the girls wake up!
Before you read any further, can you take a look at the image below and guess where this is? When you look at it, what country do you think it’s in? Tall mountainsides, sparse but beautiful greenery, red rocks and dusty sand.

Today my travel post takes us to a place in my home state. A place that I’ve never been but hope to one day go see for myself. I am terrified of heights and this fear has kept me from seeing many beautiful places and things with my own eyes. I hope to one day not let this continue hold me back from experiencing this landscape in all it’s beauty and splendor.

As beautiful as all of these photos are, I can’t help but wonder what it would look like to go to Havasu Falls. To see all of the colors in person- would they be brighter? More vibrant? I can’t help but think of how it would feel to look back on the memories that could be. Overcoming my fear, embarking on the hike to get there, tired, hot and thirsty. The reward of the effort revealing the beautiful gem often overshadowed by a more well known natural state attraction. Hearing the water flow, seeing a waterfall in person for the first time, living a fantasy that exceeds it’s reputation in my imagination. The more that I describe this as I write, the more I am talking myself into going for it!

Were you able to guess where this was? What were the telltale hints? Were you close? Surprised? Where did you think it was? Have you ever heard of Havasu Falls? Did you know that the Arizona desert had such a beautiful body of water in it? If you’d like to read more about Havasu Falls, this article has some great information about it. Have you ever been to Havasu Falls? Was it amazing? Do tell more! Would you want to visit now that this is on your radar? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
Just a side note- I wanted to respect the images as they are not my own. I adjusted the exposure and saturation just enough to see the images more clearly, a couple were slightly softened but no filters or other effects were applied. Thank you to all of the photographers that allow for their images to be shared. If you’d like to see more, click on the photographer’s name as they all link back to where I found their photo.
PS- I started at 7:39 am and pressing the publish button at 9:20 am… you can see why linking back and giving credit is important (this is for all of my regular readers that know what I’m talking about, if you want to be in the know, read this).
